About the author

Thoughts spilled into written art

‘About the author’, a description I believe. Well I’d need a pen, a paper, words and some time to think.

But that doesn’t feels right, oh of course it doesn’t.

You aren’t describing someone else Zunaira, you’re describing the entity that you’ve titled, myself

You have to remove that skin of yours, the numerous layers of melanin covering who you are and then you have to take out your heart.

Yes your heart, and listen to its rhythm.

Understand its frequency, its wavelength that separates each pulse and its amplitude that prevents it from losing its gradient.

Do you think you can do that?

I believe I have to hand over the pen to someone else for this task.

Narrator: the grim reaper

Uncovering the layers that prevents it from being seen, I take out her heart. Oh yes, I can hear it very well.

Listening to its frequency, I believe she’s a wonderer. Someone who looks at a wall and wonders how long it took to be painted, how many different colours were required to obtain that creamy texture, how many people painted it and what went on in their minds while they did so. She looks and think about trivial things for so long until they somehow no longer seem trivial to her.

Understanding its wavelength, I believe she loves artistry. Whether it be in the form of writing, music or painting, she’s amazed at the thought process behind an artists final product. By observing art, she feels like she can understand any language in the world, educate herself about different cultures and the ancestral history behind them.

Observing its amplitude, I believe she’s a perfectionist. I’ve seen her read her work before sharing it enough times for her to memorize it. She looks at a sentence for minutes, that eventually morph into hours, to make sure it conveys the appropriate emotion. She writes, looks at her work, removes it and then starts writing again. She powers this cycle until she finally reaches a quality of work that she’d define as something that has touched her borders of perfection.

She does everything at once or doesn’t does anything at all.

She calls herself the perfect definition of an average human being, nothing special or otherworldly, just there existing in this bubble, like many other souls like her.

(I’d call it a rather plain manner to live but that’s for another day.)

Until next time. I’ll now hand over the pen back to its owner.

She's living proof that the path to our dreams is sometimes winding, full of twists & turns and unexpected detours. But, it'll get you there in the end.

My story

On June 4th, her first candle was blown.

She was a quiet kid with surprisingly many ideas and curiosity about little things. She appreciated everything, anything, even the smallest things.

Straight-A’s came easily. Life was much happier and easier; for her. Kindergarten was a time for praise – for her creations, generosity, and more. Perhaps she was a ‘teacher’s pet,’ but she didn’t care. As an ENFP-T, she participated in spelling bees, math bees, and even writing contests.

In a nutshell, she was calm and optimistic I can say. As she grew older, her interests expanded to word scrambling, mod podge crafting, baking, making poems, and everything that amazed her. But for some reason, she started getting quieter, getting lost in that nostalgic vibe, wishing everything was like her past; fun and cool.

At 15, she got her first writing project which paid 0.7 PKR per word.

It started as a side hustle, unaware that it was much more than a means to an end. Not long ago, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. It was a moment of celebration, but as she walked across that stage, diploma in hand, something felt… off. Despite this nagging feeling, she shrugged it off and decided to study further.

She thought she was just overthinking and everything would fall into place soon. But then came a big hurdle, Covid-19. It messed everything up! She couldn’t go to university as planned and felt unsure about everything. The girl knew the need to study, but online classes seemed dreary. Truth be told, she wasn’t even a big fan of studying to begin with! She was only doing it for the sake of doing it and maybe to become a smart cookie someday.

So it was an unsure thing that she could manage it. Shaking up the feeling that she was meant for something else was difficult for her. During the Covid-19 lockdown, she decided not to waste time just sitting around doing nothing. So, she turned to writing – not just any writing, but copywriting; the art of persuasion and psychology. It was a love affair that took her by surprise, exposing depths of creativity and insight she never knew she had. But this time, it wasn’t just about the money. It was a way to explore herself; an avenue to figure out her real purpose. And from that moment on, she never looked back.

Writing – for herself and others – became her way of making sense of the world and connecting with others. At first, it wasn’t easy. She even felt lost and unsure occasionally. But the more she wrote, the more confident she became in making people feel things through words. Now, as she looks back, she sees every struggle, every success, and every moment of doubt and uncertainty – has led her to this point. She is a copywriter, yes, but she is also a dreamer, a creator, and a believer.

My favorite things

Nights

As an introvert, I just can't get enough of the thrill of being alone. While everyone else drool away, I relish stargazing with my astronaut persona.

Photography

Screw every other reason since capturing memories on camera is my secret weapon against FOMO, because if it's not documented, did it even happen?

Emo Kids

As an emo kid, I confirm they ain't always moody & angsty. Love 'em or hate 'em, there's no denying they bring a certain edge to the table that's rare.

Sarcasm

The lighter one, actually. It's my ultimate weapon against stupidity and boredom. With just a hint of sarcasm, I can make even the most stubborn person see things my way.

Quantum & Astrophysics

The mind-bending worlds of the very small and very large. Quantum and Astrophysics are hands down the coolest science fields out there (in my humble opinion).

Psychology

Psychology spills all the secrets for me. It helps me understand why we're all a little bit bonkers, and navigates the intricate web of human thoughts.

Uncreased Books

I'm obsessed with uncreased books. Dog-eared corners & crinkled spines are a red flag to me. Like, you can practically hear the book sigh with relief when you don't bend its spine.

Gratitude

I believe in the "attitude of gratitude" in every part of life. Anyone who ask me to help write their stuff is not just a customer – they're someone who's putting their trust in me. I see it as a gift & I make sure to treat them that way.

The stage is set and spotlight is waiting!

Let’s make your words take center stage, commanding attention, building trust, and driving actions.
